The Whitethorn (sceach geal) tells the story of prevailing westerly’s which have forever lashed its bark, till it gradually yields to its force. These twisted trees are such an integral part of our landscape, be they on wild Atlantic coasts or in rugged hilly terrain where old stone walls outline the fields, attempting to contain the thin stoney soil.
